Lunya is an independent family-owned Catalonian deli, restaurant and bar, established in 2010. Originally I worked with Peter and Elaine Kinsella delivering the general administration of their first restaurant in Liverpool, and now I look after the accounts for Lunya’s two award-winning locations – Liverpool Hanover Street and Lunyalita, Royal Albert Dock – and their online shop. I have been Lunya’s accounts department (including the period when the Manchester site was open) since 2011.

“Lucy has been our bookkeeper for over 13 years, initially as an employee and since 2013 as a freelancer. She is exceptional. Accurate, honest, reliable and profoundly thorough. Everything and more you could ever want in such a role. She is an invaluable part of our team and in reality, much more than a bookkeeper. She’s the company metronome – keeping us on task financially, ensuring we do everything on time and as a result, we have superb relationships with our suppliers. I particularly like the way Lucy is able to ask the important questions, gently challenge when necessary and is always willing to take on new things and try new ways of doing things. I can’t imagine Lunya without Lucy. Her integrity is beyond reproach, and she is quite simply fantastic as a bookkeeper and a person.”

“Lucy manages our bookkeeping and annual accounts, keeping close control of cash flow and invoicing, VAT, payroll and year-end. She’s a great organiser, which has taken a huge weight from my workload; she’s also a good communicator, forging strong bonds with our clients.”

“Lucy joined us in late 2020 and moved our accounts from various muddled spreadsheets into Xero and made my life about ten times easier! Her hard work, conscientious approach, honesty and adaptability in dealing with different types of challenges have been impressive and I’d heartily recommend her services.”

“Lucy was recommended to us at a time when our socially trading business was expanding, and she quickly made sense of our primitive bookkeeping systems and helped us transfer our accounting onto Xero. She has also been great at working with and supporting our young trainee to bring our accounts up to date. Lucy is always extremely organised, methodical and forensic in her approach to problem solving, and she ensures our accounts are always in the healthiest shape, which is essential when submitting funding applications. As we scale up, Lucy's organisation, integrity and excellent communication skills, and her ability to keep us on track and on our toes, have been crucial to our business development and we have no hesitation in recommending her bookkeeping services.”

“I found Lucy via a recommendation and I couldn’t be happier with everything she helps me with. Initially, Lucy moved my accounts from my former online accounting system to Xero. The task seemed daunting but Lucy’s organisation, attention to detail and logical, methodical approach made the whole process a breeze. She is approachable, helpful, absolutely willing to learn anything that she doesn’t already know and is a total bookkeeping rock to lean on. I have never felt so confident with the finance of my business and it’s all down to the magic of Lucy!”

“Lucy is a brilliant bookkeeper who has helped me keep on top of my Quickbooks account as a consultant. When I have encountered problems with the software, she has saved me countless hours trawling online comment sections and forums by untangling any mistakes I’ve made, explaining where I went wrong and giving me peace of mind.”

"Engaging Lucy in a consultancy capacity to help fix my misguided approach to accounting in QuickBooks was an enlightening experience. She works quickly (nice for tax deadlines) while still being able to explain the basics of bookkeeping in a way I could grasp. This even extended to a video call, on a weekend, where Lucy solved an urgent problem, so that I could finalise the books ready for my accountant.

"While I (and probably most self-employed people) would do almost anything rather than our bookkeeping or accounts, Lucy seems to actually love the process. Her attitude is contagious and I now get a little pleasure from reconciling and balancing my accounts, a place I could never have reached without her. If you’re starting out self-employed or have inaccurate/unreconciled accounts that you would rather not look at, I urge you to contact Lucy now."

She asks the right questions and gives practical advice, and I would not hesitate to recommend her."

Stick 'n' Step is a charity that was founded on Wirral in 2002 to work with children who have cerebral palsy. Stick 'n' Step delivers 22 group sessions each week in its two centres – Wallasey, Wirral and Runcorn, Cheshire – that supports over 100 children, enabling each of them to feel valued and more confident.

"Lucy was recommended to us in early 2023 when I became interim CEO, and later CEO. I had to hand over our precious accounts to someone outside our organisation for the first time. The fear I felt at the time – would she understand charity accounts bookkeeping? Roll on to today – why did I worry? I don’t ever want her to go. I wish I’d done it years ago. Lucy has taken the time to understand how Stick 'n' Step works and how our income just arrives, sometimes unexpectedly, and she gets it. She’s extremely organised, honest, and reliable and always happy to help chat through issues and subsequently work to solve them. I now regard her as part of our staff team and never worry about the accounts."

"Lucy has been looking after our books since 2023 and it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with her. She’s a true professional in every aspect of her work. If ever we have a query or a concern, she’s always there to put our minds at ease and offer her hugely helpful advice and guidance. Lucy has single-handedly transformed our books and we finally feel comfortable with where we are as a company. We’re so happy with the work Lucy does for us and we couldn’t recommend her enough."

"My financial records were a mess. I’d chosen the wrong bookkeeping software, didn’t know how to use it properly and was cobbling together info from different sources to get my tax return done.

Lucy stood out as someone who knew her stuff and could calmly sort out my mess. In a short space of time, she brought order to the chaos. Lucy also set me up with more intuitive software and taught me how to use it. Now I have a simple bookkeeping system and a process I can keep on top of. My next tax return will be a breeze!

On top of all that, Lucy offers huge value for money. I recommend her services to any small business owner."
